THE DEESIDE ORCHESTRA

The orchestra was established over 30 years ago by local musicians keen to provide an opportunity for adult musicians to get together to play classical music. We meet regularly on Tuesday evenings during term time in Aboyne, Royal Deeside.

We are an amateur orchestra funded through a small annual membership subscription, supplemented by fund raising and tickets sales for our concerts.

At present the orchestra has around 30 members who come from all over Aberdeenshire. We cover most instruments but where necessary draft in extra guest players and soloists from the wider community for our concerts.

PERFORMANCES

We normally stage three concerts a year in venues local to Aboyne and Banchory.

• Autumn (November) – typically comprises light popular classics.
• New Year (January/ February) – a light hearted party themed evening.
• Summer (June) – traditional classical pieces, usually including a concerto with a professional soloist.
